A series of technical assistance activities are being implemented to support Parties in the Central and Eastern European and the Asia-Pacific regions to strengthen national legal frameworks, to take measures to prevent and combat illegal traffic and trade in hazardous chemicals and waste under the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions. These activities are financed through the generous support of the European Union.
The project on legal frameworks and international trade control measures under the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions encompasses regional and national activities. It supports Parties in examining and strengthening their legal frameworks to implement the Conventions, including review and development of legislation. Regional training sessions and national-level projects raised awareness among stakeholders and enhanced capacities in Central and Eastern Europe and the Asia-Pacific regions to implement trade control measures.
