To support and further develop the capacity building on national legal frameworks and preventing and combatting illegal traffic and trade, national level projects are being undertaken in 3 Parties in the Asia and Pacific regions.
Projects are being implemented in Papua New Guinea, the State of Palestine, and Turkmenistan to review, enhance and harmonize legal frameworks for the implementation of the three Conventions; and prevent and combat illegal traffic and trade of hazardous chemicals and wastes in each of the countries involved.
The national-level projects have been implemented in collaboration with and with support from and the Basel Convention regional centre for South-East Asia, the Stockholm Convention regional centre for capacity-building and transfer of technology in Kuwait, and the Pacific Regional Centre for Training and Technology Transfer for the Joint Implementation of the Basel and Waigani Conventions in the South Pacific region (SPREP).
