Resource Mobilization

Effective and efficient resource mobilization is important to ensure that funds are being raised in a more predictable and sustainable manner for activities under the Technical Cooperation Trust Fund (BD) and Voluntary Special Trust Funds (RC, SV) of the three conventions. Establishing and maintaining productive and trustworthy relationships with donors, and other key funding sources of the conventions, including monitoring and timely reporting of funded activities are key ingredients to achieve the objective of effective and efficient resource mobilization.

The Conferences of the Parties in their decisions BC-11/26, RC-6/16 and SC-6/30 approved Programme of Work activity 30 (S16) on Resource mobilization. The aim of this activity is to establish and maintain a network of donor countries and other possible funding partners to raise funds for the Technical Cooperation Trust Fund (BD) and Voluntary Special Trust Funds (RC, SV) of the three conventions. An essential aspect of the resource mobilization work of the Secretariat is the monitoring and reporting in compliance with donor requirements. A Resource Mobilization database has been developed to support the Secretariat in achieving this important goal. Furthermore, the Secretariat is organizing dedicated meetings with potential donor countries and other possible funding partners. The above activities will be undertaken in coordination with the UNEP/FAO resource mobilization units, other external resource mobilization activities and the Global Environment Facility.
