The recommendations from the Chemical Review Committee for amending Annex III to the Rotterdam Convention to be considered by the twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties have been circulated to Parties.

On 3rd October 2024 G20 Environment and Climate Ministers, convened in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, adopted a landmark Declaration reaffirming their commitment to address some of the world's most pressing environmental challenges.

The third part of the fourth meeting of the small intersessional working group on the strategic framework for the implementation of the Basel Convention, meets in Geneva from 7 to 8 October 2024. The working group will finalize a renewed strategic framework for the implementation of the Basel Convention to be considered for adoption by the Basel Convention COP-17 in 2025.

The Expert meeting on Best Available Technologies and Best Environmental Practices under the Stockholm Convention will focus on the review and finalization of the guidance documents under review during the current intersessional period, on the identification of guidance documents that need to be revised or newly developed in the next intersessional period, and on the development of conclusions and recommendations and the workplan for the next biennium for consideration by the Conference of the Parties at its twelfth meeting.
