Background

Using an IUCN Gender Report as a baseline for the collection of sex disaggregated data for both internal and external purposes, the Secretariat of the BRS Conventions has continued to collect data to update these figures.

The IUCN Gender Report was created in 2017 as a baseline report bringing together data that was collected and assessed based on the 2013 and 2015 BRS COPs. The Secretariat has supplemented this with data from the 2017 COPs, from subsidiary bodies including the Basel Convention Implementation and Compliance Committee, the Rotterdam Convention Chemical Review Committee and the Stockholm Convention POPs Review Committee, and from the BRS Secretariat.
